I took this picture a few years ago at my sister's wedding. I can't really say why I like it so much unless it's because it doesn't seem as much about the bride as most wedding pictures are. She's in it yes, but it's not as much of a posed moment so it captures a different aspect of the wedding day.

While I'm on the subject, here's another picture that I took that day. It'd look better if there were actually leaves on the trees, and no smog, and if I'd been holding the camera straight, but you have to work with what you're given, right?

I took this when I was in Salt Lake City for a friend's wedding last December. I've always loved the architecture of the mormon temple there. It's even more amazing when I think that it was built without all the modern technology we have. That's one reason why I'd like to go to Europe some day. I think I'd be even more amazed at some of the buildings there that have stood for several centuries.

This one's really not that cool, but the water really was this color. It's right below Panguitch Lake when apparently there was a lot of algae growing in the water.

This was in Yellowstone. Sadly, we couldn't find the pot of gold.

I took this one while I was hiking near Bryce Canyon, UT. It would probably look better if I cropped it some, but I liked the way the light was coming through and hitting the shrubs.

This is one of my favorite photos. Anyone who's been flyfishing on the Green River during the month of May will understand why. The crazy thing is that every bush along the river looked like this that day.

This was in Death Valley. I had just walked from the top of this dune with a friend of mine. I thought that the shading looked cool. Especially with the footprints we left along the ridge.

Just a dead tree we hiked by at the Grand Canyon a couple of years ago. I thought it looked cool, but I don't know if I framed it right, or if the lighting is good for the picture.

Nothing too fancy about this one, I just thought it was a pretty flower growing in my mom's flower garden.

I like this picture a lot, but think that it's because of the circumstances around the day I took it rather than the photo itself. I had planned to go to Flaming Gorge with some friends to celebrate the 4th of July a few years ago. The only problem was that there was a forest fire at the time, and they had to evacuate the town of Dutch John as the fire had gotten close enough to put people in danger. The first day that they let people return to their homes we decided to go up and take a look. They were only letting people from Dutch John go up on the mountain. Luckily my friend's parents still lived there, so when they checked us to make sure our name was on the list of people to be allowed through the roadblock, he gave them his and they let us in. Of course we decided to drive around and take a look at the damage, at least as much as we could without getting into trouble with the local law enforcement. I just happened to get this shot of a Forest Service fire truck in action while we were doing so. I feel that I kind of got away with something that day, and this picture serves as a reminder of that.

I like to play around with my digital camera, and every once in a while come up with a picture that I think is pretty good. I've decided to start posting some of my favorite pictures here. I don't know how often I'll post them, but thought I'd start with this wildflower picture I took out in Death Valley last spring. You'll have to let me know what you think of these as I post them.

I have others that will come in due time, but am pretty sure my posts on this blog will taper off once I get them uploaded. I don't take good photos all that often.
